Lufthansa Cargo to sell new airline Eurowings Discover’s capacity

Lufthansa Cargo will sell the capacity of newly launched low-cost long-haul sister carrier Eurowings Discover.

The cargo business will offer the freight capacities on Eurowings Discover’s A330-200 flights from Frankfurt to the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana/PUJ), Kenya (Mombasa/MBA), Namibia (Windhoek/WDH) and Tanzania (Zanzibar / ZNZ).

Initially weekly flights are being offered to MBA and ZNZ and from August 2 PUJ will be added with a frequency of three flights per week and WDH on five days a week.

The new carrier operates under its own AOC out of Frankfurt and Munich and will target the long-haul leisure market while sister carrier Eurowings, which in the past offered long-haul services, continues with short-haul operations.

The first flight took off from Frankfurt on Saturday for its inaugural flight to Mombasa with onward service to Zanzibar.

From October, Eurowings Discover is planning further flights to Las Vegas and Mauritius. In the 2021 winter flight schedule, Bridgetown, Montego Bay and Varadero will be added with three weekly frequencies each.

In addition, the flight programme will be expanded from November to five weekly frequencies to Cancún as well as to medium-haul destinations such as the Canary Islands, Egypt and Morocco.
