Geodis set for expansion at Auckland Airport

Freight forwarder Geodis will move to a new facility at Auckland Airport in New Zealand in response to growth in the market.
The company said that the new 5,700 sq m facility will feature temperature-controlled areas to facilitate the optimal storage of pharmaceutical products at 15-25 degrees Celsius as well as 4 degrees Celsius.
It comes as the company has noticed a healthy growth trajectory in the market, with e-commerce and pharma name checked as two sectors that have seen increasing demand. Other key verticals that will be served by the facility are fast-moving consumer goods and retail.
Geodis will move into the new facility in October and it will consolidate operations from multiple sites to boost efficiencies.
The base will also have two-meter wide aisle racking with 5,000 pallet location and automated operating systems to support e-commerce fulfillment.
It will also house Geodis’ international container freight station (CFS), contract logistics and last mile distribution set-up.
The purpose-built facility is located at one of Auckland’s main industrial hubs at Auckland Airport with connections to the main roads.
“Features like the increased capacity, temperature control rooms, state-of-the-art technology, and advanced security measures ensure more precise and cost-efficient warehousing,” said Hugh Mackay, managing director, New Zealand. “This new site reflects the scale of things to come for our operations in New Zealand.”
